Community Volunteer:
Over the past 12 years I have volunteered many hours of my time in the Monroe School system where my two sons (Colton is 17 and Evan is 12) currently attend. I have held positions on the Stepney PTO board as well as chairing many school events there like their Mini Grant Program.
I have also been Co-President, Secretary and currently Treasurer of the Monroe Parents'
Council, a member of Monroe's ADAM program, a parent representative for Masuk's NEASC Accreditation, a Cub Scout Den leader and Pack 162's Chartered Organization Representative and President of Monroe Newcomers & Neighbors Club.
Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office:
I am currently a Trustee and the Secretary of the Edith Wheeler Memorial
Library Board.
The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Right now our Town has an unhealthy imbalance of Republican controlled boards
and commissions. In order for the best interests of the voters to be properly
represented there needs to be more Democratic representation within our Town
Hall. This is an important issue that can be addressed November 5th at the
polls.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates
seeking this post?
The first difference between Pat O'Hara and I is that I have direct experience with banking. The second and most important difference is that I am not beholden to anyone in Town Hall. Pat was appointed about 6 months ago when there was a vacancy, although he has falsely been running his campaign as "Re-elect" he was not elected Town Treasurer. I would be going into the position with no political ties to our First Selectman.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
With the skills that I have gained through my work experience as a Loan Officer, Office Manager & Accounts Payable Insurance Processor, I have the technical knowledge to do the job of a treasurer. I am also a mother that runs a household. Just like a household, our town needs to budget, spend, and invest wisely. If elected I will be a steward of your hard-earned dollars.
The best advice ever shared with me was ...
My parents have both instilled in me through example "We only have what we give." They both continue to be selfless members of the community they were raised in and I intend to do the same here in Monroe.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your
positions?
As town treasurer, I would have the ability be involved in the education system, the library, and all other facets of our town that mean so much to me personally. Being a local elected official means being involved and serving the public. I would like this opportunity to earn your vote and become your treasurer and to serve our community.
