Monroe Lawmaker Applauds Passage of Manufacturing Education Bill
Rep. Sredzinski supports education to help students obtain well-paying jobs in the manufacturing industry.

HARTFORD – State Representative J.P. Sredzinski (R-112) hailed the unanimous passage by the House of Representatives of a bill he cosponsored that aims to increase student interest in manufacturing careers on Wednesday.
If passed, the legislation, House Bill 5423, An Act Encouraging Middle School And High School Students To Consider Careers In Manufacturing, will require the Commissioner of Education to establish a program to introduce students to modern manufacturing and training programs for these careers. The Commissioner of Education must also put together a committee that will put together a catalog of all manufacturing training programs available at educational institutions in Connecticut.

“Manufacturing jobs are high-quality and pay well, and I strongly support any efforts to further educate students about these careers,” said Rep. Sredzinski. “In Monroe, we have seen the state invest in two manufacturing businesses, Northeast Laser and Axel Plastics, by providing loans through the Department of Economic and Community Development to expand their businesses.
“Manufacturing is alive and well in Monroe, and I hope that if this bill is signed into law, this pattern will continue for years to come by sparking interest in manufacturing for a new generation.”
