Monroe Officials React to 'Horrendous' Proposed State Funding Cuts: Report
Monroe could stand to lose $6.5 million in state funding under Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposed budget.

MONROE, CT — Monroe officials are scrambling to account for state funding reductions after Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposed budget called for significant funding cuts, reports the Connecticut Post.
Under the governor's proposed budget, Monroe could stand to lose approximately $6.5 million in state funding. First Selectman Steve Vavrek told the Post that both the amount of money cut in the proposed budget and the timing of the proposal was "horrendous."
The Post reports that the proposal has town department heads scrambling to submit individual budgets for the upcoming year, as the town budget is scheduled to go before the Board of Finance at the end of February. Vavrek told the Post that under the town charter, departments will submit budget without actual numbers from the state.
