Monroe Police Intercept $40K Worth of Cocaine
Police say a man had the drugs sent to his place of employment.

Monroe police say on Oct. 2 the United States Postal Investigations Service notified the department that they had intercepted a package addressed to a location in Monroe which was suspected to contain illegal narcotics.
US Postal Inspectors obtained a Federal Search and Seizure Warrant and opened the package at the Monroe Police Department.
The package, addressed to Josue Gonzalez, 37, of Black Rock Avenue in Bridgeport, at his place of employment, contained just over 1 kilogram (2.2 lbs) of cocaine, with a street value of $40,000, police said.

The package was resealed and members of the Monroe Police Department, U.S. Postal Inspectors and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a controlled delivery of the package to Gonzalez at his place of employment, police said.
Gonzalez accepted delivery of the package, walked to his car and was backing out of a parking space when he was taken into custody by police, police said.

Gonzalez was the only person at this location involved and other employees and the owner of the business had no knowledge of Gonzalez’s illegal activities, police said.
He is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school/daycare facility.
He was released after posting $75,000 bond.
