Monroe Police Officer Battling Brain Cancer Needs Your Help

Monroe Officer Wall has received numerous special recognition certificates, three meritorious service ribbons and now he needs your help.

Police, friends and family are rallying around one of Monroe’s finest as he battles brain cancer.

Officer Andrew “Andy” Wall has been a police officer with the Monroe Police Department for almost 20 years. When he started feeling ill in the fall of 2015, doctors found a malignant brain tumor. Officer Wall will begin chemotherapy and radiation in the coming months which will hinder his ability to return to routine life and work.

“Friends of the Monroe Police Department” have set up a GoFundMe page to help with Officer Wall’s medical expenses. In just two weeks they’ve raised $13,000 of their $50,000 goal. They’re asking for support for his medical expenses.

According to the page, his list of commendations include: six special recognition certificates, three meritorious service ribbons, two distinguished service ribbons and a medal of valor. Officer Wall was also nominated for Officer of the Year in 2009.

Friends from the Monroe Police Department wrote of Officer Wall:

“Now more than ever Andy Wall will need the support of his community. Whether it is his personal life or his work, he has always put the needs of others before himself. Even now his biggest concern for the future is for his wife and their 10 year old son. The medical bills and cost of everyday living will continue to mount as Andy’s treatment continues. Our goal is to ease the financial stresses on his family and to help support his family in this time of need. We are asking for your help to support our brother.”
