Monroe Settles on Botched Easton Police Raid Case

Easton, Trumbull, Monroe, Darien and Wilton will pay a $1.25 million settlement after officers from the departments conducted a botched raid that left one man dead.

Towns have now paid a total of $4.75 million for the May 2008 incident, according to the Connecticut Post.

Heavily-armed officers broke down the door of an Easton home, threw flash grenades and fattaly shot Gonzalo Guizan, 33.

The towns were part of the Southwest Regional Response Team. Officers were told Terebesi was dangerous and that he had weapons in the home.Towns paid $3.5 million to Guizan’s family and initially refused to settle with Ronald Terebesi, who was at the residence watching TV.

Police conducted the raid after a stripper who was at the home told police she saw the two take something out a small tin and smoke it; she didn’t say anything about weapons. Police found a small amount of drugs and no weapons in the residence.
