Monroe Town Council Approves Reduced Version of Budget: Report
Town officials have been scrambling to adjust for potential cuts to state aid.

MONROE, CT — The Monroe Town Council voted to approve a reduced version of First Selectman Steve Vavrek's proposed budget, reports the Monroe Courier.
The revised budget represents a 9.59 percent reduction from the First Selectman's proposal, including a total town expenditure of $27,266,076, $2.89 million less than the proposal budget. Member Ken Kellogg said that the Town Council did not enjoy making the adjustments, and said that thanks to the governor, these are trying times, according to the Monroe Courier's report.
Town officials had been scrambling to put re-adjust budget proposals following the announcement of Gov. Dannell Malloy's budget, which could cause a loss of $6.5 million in state aid.
