Monroe VEMS Offers Community CPR/AED Class

The Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service will offer a CPR/AED course to the public at the former Chalk Hill School on Feb. 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

This American Heart Association Program covers the updated material and guidelines for CPR and relief of choking for adult, child and infant, as well as training in the use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

All participants will receive a two-year certification card and student manual, and skill reminder cards. This course is designed for lay people who require a credential for completion. This is not a Healthcare Provider course.

The cost is $25 per person, which covers the cost of the book, card and other supplies. All instructors are Monroe Volunteer EMS members who volunteer their time, and MVEMS provides the space and other materials and supplies necessary for the course. The course fee is payable the night of the course.

Participants must be 12 years of age or older. Pre-registration is required. A minimum of six people is needed to hold the class, which can accommodate up to 18 people.
