Nanny Charged for Jewelry Theft From Monroe Home
The woman allegedly stole and pawned jewelry worth nearly $14,000.

A Shelton woman was arrested on Saturday after police say she stole and pawned close to $14,000 in jewelry from a Monroe home.
According to police, a jewelry theft was reported from a home on Deerfield Lane on Feb. 18.

There were no signs that a burglary occurred at the residence and the complainant reported that only two people had access to the home that included a nanny and a cleaning person, police said.
An investigation by the Monroe Police Department Detective Bureau revealed that the complainant’s nanny, Gabriella Pereira, 21 had allegedly pawned numerous pieces of jewelry at a pawn shop in Bridgeport over a five-month period.

Pereira was charged with second-degree larceny.
She was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of June 1.
