New Schools Finance Director's Salary is Set

Gabriella DiBlasi was hired by the district earlier this month.

Supt. of Schools Colleen Palmer chose Gabriella DiBlasi, a Board of Finance member with 18 years experience at Wall Street financial firms, to be the next fiscal manager for Monroe Public Schools on Aug. 10.

On Tuesday morning, Palmer released information on what DiBlasi's salary will be. She will be paid $128,000 for the 2010-2011 school year, which will be pro-rated from the Sept. 7 hire date.

DiBlasi resigned from the Board of Finance after deciding to accept the job. She served on the board for three years, reviewing annual Board of Education budget proposals over the period, which Palmer believes gives her unique experience for the job.

The public schools administrative position opened up when Nancy O'Dea-Wyrick, director of fiscal and management services, left to pursue another opportunity.

The job was posted in July and Palmer said three-and-a-half days of face-to-face interviews with 14 candidates were conducted before DiBlasi was chosen.

Palmer said the district was fortunate to have a deep pool of talented, qualified candidates after advertising to fill the position.
