Newtown Edges Masuk's Wrestlers

Masuk's wrestling team lost a heartbreaker against Newtown High School during an exciting match at home.

On Tuesday, the Panthers led by one point, with three more wrestlers to go. After a grueling seven minutes of overtime, Newtown's 180-pound Aaron Nezvesky pinned his opponent, Monroe's Kyle Hoskins. Next up, Newtown's 215-pound Andrew Fischer won his match-up by major decision.

"Our record is 10-2 (in SWCs) and we will be entering SWC's in second place, only 10 points behind the No. 1 team in the state, New Milford," Nighthawks coach Alan Potter said

The wrestling SWCs will take place today, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12 at Brookfield High School. Friday matches start at 5:30pm and Saturday matches start at 9:30am.
