Outstanding Individual Performances by Masuk Track Athletes

The Masuk boys and girls track teams both finished seventh overall in the South-West Conference championships

The Masuk Panthers' boys and girls track and field teams both placed seventh overall during Monday’s South-West Conference championships, but there were also several outstanding individual performances with town athletes placing in the top three in their events and winning competitions outright.

Masuk’s Theresa Saia, Megan Tynan, Ashley Russo and Ali Muro took first place in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 51.19 while Joel Barlow and Weston high schools came in second and third respectively.

In the boys high jump, Masuk’s Mark Fuller won 1st place with a distance of 6-foot-2 while in the boys pole vault, Masuk’s Tyler John took 1st place with a height of 13-feet.

In the girls high jump, Masuk’s Diana Antenucci came in 2nd with a jump of 4-feet-10 while Maura Murphy tied at sixth with a jump of 4-feet-6.

In the girls 100 meter dash, Masuk’s Ali Muro took 2nd place with a time of 13.38 while Ashley Russo was 6th with a time of 13.68 and Megan Tynan 8th with a time of 13.82. Theresa Saia finished the preliminaries with a time of 13.89 but did not qualify for the finals.

In the boys 110 meter hurdles, Masuk’s Tyler John came in 2nd place in the preliminaries with a time of 16.35 and during the finals came in 3rd with a time of 16.55.

In the girls 100 meter hurdles, Masuk’s Erika Berglund ran in the preliminaries with a time of 18.06.

The article missed reporting the Masuk boys 4 x 800 meter (Greg Lynch, James Johnson, Ben Agaston, Mike Szawiola) came in 6th.

In the boys 400 meter dash, Masuk’s Anthony Calabrese (54.14) came in 14th and Matthew Fahey (55.24) came in 18th.

In the girls 400 meter dash, Masuk’s Jenn Ambrose (1:01.95) came in 6th.

In the boys 300 meter hurdles, Masuk’s Jacob Hampel (44.21) came in 9th.

In the girls 200 meter dash, Masuk’s Ali Muro (27.23) came in third, Theresa Saia (28.14) came in ninth and Ashley Russo (28.75) came in 12th.

In the boys 3200 meter run, Masuk’s Greg Lynch (10:28.30) came in 14th.

In the girls 3200 meter run, Masuk’s Michelle Fedor (12:46) came in 16th and Rachael McCollum (13:19.31) came in 28th.

In the boys 4x400 meter relay, Masuk’s Matthew Fahe, Ben Agaston, Connor Timmons and Anthony Calabrese came in 10th with a time of 3:44.53.

In the girls 4x400 meter relay, Masuk’s Jenn Ambrose, Kristin Smith, Ali Muro and Laura Dellalana came in sixth with a time of 4:21.29.

In the boys discus throw, Masuk’s Matt Salzano came in 5th  with a throw of 124-09 and in the shot put he came in sixth with a distance of 41-06.75.

In the girls long jump, Masuk’s Jenn Ambrose (14-foot-7) came in 6th.

In the girls pole vault, Masuk’s Jenn Ambrose tied for 6th place with other vaulters by clearing 8 feet.

Masuk’s Lenny Bonina participated in the boys triple jump with a distance of 38-feet-.5, placing him at fifth.

In the girls triple jump, Masuk’s Erika Berglund participated with a distance of 28-foot-.25 while Lindsey Pivarnik had a distance of 26-foot-2.25.
