• Police: Men caught operating pump to steal cooking oil from Monroe Diner (themonroesun.com) — Police recently charged two men with stealing used cooking oil from the Monroe Diner on Main Street, and they're due in court later this month. In separate incidents, Monroe police are also investigating a stolen check, a pricey pool vacuum taken from Monroe Turnpike, and several attempted overnight car break-ins in local neighborhoods.

• Statement from First Selectman Tesoro Regarding Proposed Development Near Trumbull-Monroe Town Line (trumbull-ct.gov) — A proposed high-density housing project at 1, 7, and 15 Main Street in Monroe, near the Trumbull line, is now before Monroe's Planning and Zoning Commission. Residents in both Monroe and Trumbull can speak at Monroe hearings, submit comments, and potentially appeal any decision in court, as officials weigh neighborhood impacts and development rights.
