Polls Open Till 8 p.m. in Monroe

The first version of the proposed budget was rejected by voters.

Monroe voters are back at the polls today for the second budget referendum.

According to the Monroe Courier, the new budget is $118,000 lower than the original $84.5 million that was rejected by voters. The mill rate would rise from 31.04 mills to 34.36 mills.

“Please take the time today, the polls are open until 8 p.m.,” the Town of Monroe wrote on Facebook.

The town is encouraging residents to vote.

“Not Voting for the most part may show either you don’t care or maybe don’t feel you know enough.If that’s the case please reach out to me and I can give you more insight on this budget or any town issue,” the town wrote on Facebook.
