Spending Up, Taxes Down In Proposed Monroe Budget

The budget will eventually go before voters.

MONROE, CT — The proposed Monroe budget would result in a slight mill rate drop despite increased spending due to a rise in the town's grand list.

The budget proposed by First Selectman Ken Kellogg and the Board of Education comes with a 2.48 percent hike in spending, but real estate taxes would drop 1.37 percent, according to the Monroe Courier.

Monroe also has reduced payments on debt.
