Wind Advisory in Effect Until 7 p.m. Monday in Monroe

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for our area until 7 p.m. Monday evening.

Wind gusts of up to 50 m.p.h. are expected from sunrise to sunset. The winds will be strong enough to knock down trees and tree limbs, which can lead to downed wires and power outages. Driving conditions can also be difficult.

The National Weather Service predicts the following weather conditions for the rest of the week:

• Today - Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 24 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
• Tonight - Increasing clouds, with a low around 8. Wind chill values between zero and 5. West wind 7 to 16 mph.
• Tuesday - Light snow likely, mainly between 11am and 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 22. Wind chill values between zero and 10. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
• Tuesday Night - A slight chance of light snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday - A slight chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 22. Blustery, with a west wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 0. Blustery.
• Thursday - Sunny and cold, with a high near 15.
• Thursday Night - A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 26.
• Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 14.
• Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 26.
• Saturday Night -Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.
• Sunday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31.
