Woman Sentenced for Torching Million Dollar Monroe Home
Evidence presented at the trial showed that the woman burned the home in 2008.

A Florida woman was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday for torching her former Monroe home for insurance money, the Connecticut Post reports.
Amanda Azevedo, 39, was found guilty of first-degree arson, conspiracy to commit first-degree arson, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, attempted first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, the paper reports.
Azevedo was sentenced to 10 years, suspended after four years followed by three years’ probation and was also ordered to do 100 hours of community service.

During the trial, evidence was presented that Azeveda along with the help of Diniz Depina, of Bridgeport set fire to her $1.4 million home on Hunter Ridge Road in Jan. 2008. According to the paper, she filed a claim with her insurance company but a subsequent investigation determined that the fire was likely set.
