Woman Stole from Relative to Pay Bills: Monroe Police

The woman made several unauthorized charges that totaled over $4,000.

A Milford woman was arrested after police say she had been using her distant relative’s money to pay her utility bills.

According to police, a resident on Senior Drive in Monroe reported to police that someone had made numerous unauthorized charges on their banking account. The resident suspected Katelin Rak, 25, a “distant” relative that assisted them with paying bills in the past.

Monroe Police Detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for banking records which revealed that Rak had made a total of 22 unauthorized charges, totaling $4,070 mostly to pay utility bills in her name for her Milford residence, police said.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Rak on charges of third-degree larceny.

After learning of this warrant, Rak surrendered herself to police on July 8. She was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of July 17.
