2018-19 School Budget Decision Reached By Montville BOE: Report

The board also moved closer privatizing the district busing operation.

MONTVILLE, CT — The Montville Board of Education Tuesday approved a 2018-19 budget of $37.9 million to run the school district, an amount that represents a scant less than 1 percent increase above the current allocation, reports The Day.

High school class size will slightly increase under the spending plan, and a couple of teaching positions will be eliminated. Additionally, five educators will take early retirements, also saving the district money.

The board also voted to seek bids to privatize the district's bus service, a move it has discussed in recent years. Such a move could save the district seven-figures over the next four years, according to the publication.
