Body Found Near Submarine Base Confirmed as Missing Montville Man

Police said a body found near a Groton submarine base was that of a missing Montville man.

GROTON, CT - A body found near a Groton submarine base was confirmed Wednesday to be that of a missing Montville man.

The Montville Police Department originally began a missing person's investigation on February 19 after a Montville family reported that a family member had not returned home from fishing. The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Lylie Dagenais, according to a release.

Police said Dagenais' body was located in the Thames River on Tuesday by US Navy Police north of the submarine base in Groton.

The recovery was investigated by State Police Major Crime Unit, and assisted by Montville Detectives, US Navy Police, NCIS, DEEP, Groton Town Police and the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner's Office.
