March Referendum Scheduled for Independent Montville PD

Residents will decide whether the town should mount its own police force.

Montville residents will head to the polls on March 8 to decide whether the town should mount its own independent police department.

Last month, the Town Council voted to create an independent force, but opponents say that moving from the resident state trooper program to an independent police department would be too expensive for Montville taxpayers at this time.

The Day reports that polls will be open on the 8th from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Fair Oaks School, located at 836 Old Colchester Road in Oakdale.
