McFee Storms Out of Executive Session
The councilor's action brings an end to the session

An executive session of the Montville Town Council was cut short Wednesday night when Councilor Dana McFee left the meeting, slammed the door on the rest of the council and stormed into the council chamber, yelling and hurling epithets.
McFee exclaimed to the chamber at large that he was irate about the inclusion of Tim May, the WPCA chairman, in the executive session.
He then sat alone at the council dais.

The executive session, according to the agenda, was:
“To consider and act on a motion that the members of the Town Council enter into executive session pursuant to General Statute 1-200 (6) (E) to discuss a draft document and/or a communication that is attorney-client privileged with the following additional people: Ronald McDaniel, Mayor: Timothy May, WPCA Chair; Michael Didato, WPCA Superintendent; Eileen Duggan, Town Counsel.”

Councilor Rosetta Jones was not present at the meeting, and so when the council filed back into the chamber and took its seat, Council Chairwoman Candy Buebendorf announced that the lack of minority representation meant the executive session had to end.
In the time reserved on the agenda after the executive session for remarks from the public, former Town Councilor Ellen Hillman said that public comment “has always been taken prior to the action. This was not done tonight, and I wonder why,” she said, and questioned the legality of the meeting.
