Meals on Wheels Delivers Far More Than a Hot Lunch [VIDEO]
Homebound Montville seniors get a meal and a friend "making sure they're okay." Mayor lends a hand with the delivery Thursday
This past Thursday morning, like so many mornings before over the past 4 and half years, Donna Deveau has been delivering hot meals to the homebound in Montville – about 40-plus stops a day.
But this morning, she had a bit of help from Montville Mayor Ron McDaniel, helping out as part of Mayors for Meals Day where town and city leaders nationwide rode along with volunteer meal drivers helping to deliver meals to dozens of homebound seniors

Last year in Montville, the Thames Valley Council for Community Action Senior Nutrition Program, Meals on Wheels provided more than 70 homebound seniors more than 15,000 meals!
In the Montville Senior Center kitchen with Deveau and McDaniel were longtime volunteers Irene Taylor and Louise Lamothe.

The group worked quickly and efficiently packaging the meal; chicken parmesan, penne primavera and Italian vegetables, then stacking each neatly, ready for packing into the car and out for delivery.
Meals on Wheels work to make sure the homebound receive hot, nutritious meals. But it's a lot more.
"I know they're eating, but I want to make sure they're okay, too" Deveau said.
