Police Investigating Apparent Suicide

Montville Police responded to Driscoll Drive this afternoon to a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Lt. Leonard Bunnell said the Eastern District Major Crime Squad, a division of the state police, is investigating.

Traffic was detoured for hours while police investigated the scene, Sgt. Matt Northrop said.

Two sources confirmed for Patch that the deceased was Arthur McGuire, of 46 Driscoll Drive. McGuire was a constable in the 1980s with the Montville Police Department. The incident happened outside the home this afternoon.
