Suspect Accused Of Crashing Into Mohegan Police Cruiser

The incident occurred on Thursday in Bozrah, according to state police.

BOZRAH, CT — A 26-year-old Meriden man was arrested on a host of charges by state police after authorities said he crashed his red and black Mini Cooper into a Mohegan police cruiser while intoxicated.

The incident occurred at about 7:15 a.m. on Thursday westbound on Route 2 as the Mohegan officer was attempting to make a traffic stop.

No injuries were reported, but after the crash, Jean Carlos Colon, of Broad Street, was found by state police near Exit 22 in the Mini Cooper, which had begun disabled from the crash.

Colon was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm while Intoxicated
  • Interfering with an Officer
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle While under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle under Suspension
  • Improper use of Marker or Registration

State police did not disclose the type of weapon in Colon's possession.

Colon was held in lieu of bail of $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Dec. 9.
