2 Naugatuck Men In The Same Vehicle Both Charged With DUI: Police

Police said they responded to an accident, which led to the two arrests.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Two Naugatuck men in the same vehicle were arrested and charged with DUI after a car crashed into a utility pole and left the scene, police said. Police said at 1:08 a.m. on August 13, officers responded to City Hill Street for a motor vehicle accident.

Michael Giugno, 23, of Brook Street, struck a utility pole and left the scene, police said. He was later found at his home and it was determined that he was driving while under the influence, police said. Police say Michael Giugno, 53, of Brook Street, was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the accident.

The passenger switched seats and drove the vehicle home, leaving the scene, police said. Giugno, 53, also was charged with DUI and he was also found to be in possession of a narcotic pill, police said.

Both Giugnos were charged with evading responsibility and DUI, and Giugno, 53, was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
