2nd Coronavirus Case Confirmed At Naugatuck High School
The school resumed in-person learning Monday after closing last week when a student tested positive for the coronavirus.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A second person at Naugatuck High School has tested positive for the coronavirus, officials announced Monday.
In-person learning resumed at the school on Monday after a student tested positive for the virus last week. The school was dismissed early last Wednesday and all students switched to distance learning for the rest of the week after a senior tested positive for the virus.
Officials learned on Monday (Sept. 14) that a person who was last physically present at Naugatuck High School on Sept. 9 has tested positive for the virus, according to Superintendent of Schools Christopher Montini.

“The Naugatuck Valley Health District has completed the contact tracing investigation and has determined that there was no exposure or risk,” Montini wrote in a message to parents. “Naugatuck Valley Health District has recommended, and our medical advisor and I concur, that we will continue with in-person learning as scheduled.
“The Naugatuck Public School and Naugatuck Valley Health Districts are committed to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. We continue to proactively monitor the illness of students and staff and implement strategies to safeguard the health of our school community. The safety of our school community remains our priority.”
