42nd Annual Borough Music Festival Tonight

Tonight the Naugatuck Public Schools Fine Arts will present their 42nd annual Borough Music Festival in the Davis Auditorium at Naugatuck High School. This year the concert will focus on vocal music.

The performances will begin with the fourth grade students that were selected to be part of this year’s festival. The fourth grade singers will perform “We Are Here” by Teresa Jennings and “Yonder Come Day” arranged by Paul Jennings.

The fifth grade singers will then join with the fourth graders to perform “Onomatopoeia” by Mark Burrows and “When I Sing” composed by Tom Shelton.

After the elementary school students leave the stage, the middle school students will perform “Everybody” and “I Found Something I Was Searching For” by PINKZEBRA.

The Naugatuck High School Chamber Singers, a by audition high school group, will then join the eighth grader to sing “Joshua” arranged by Rollo Dilworth, followed by “Bring Me Little Water, Silvy” arranged by Adam Podd.

The students in grades eight through twelve will then perform “Son De Camaguey” by Stephen Hatfield.

The finale of the concert will be all of the students, from grade four through grade twelve, lifting their voices in song for “Everlasting Melody, a joyful piece composed by Rollo Dilworth. Some of the high school students had the opportunity to meet this composer and through the high school choir and musical theatre teacher Jennifer Fatone sent best wishes to the singers.

The members of the NPS Music Department who have helped to prepare the Naugatuck students for this concert include high school educators Emanuel Arboleda (High School Band and the Fine Arts Coordinator for the district,) Ms. Fatone, Joseph Monde (Guitar and Music Production/Technology) and Marc Focarile, the accompanist.

Alitha Krolikowski, Middle School Choir and General Music, and Alec Smith, Middle School Band and General Music, worked with the musicians from City Hill MS.

Intermediate students prepared with Jennifer Lucas and NTL President Cathy Lungarini, who both teach Intermediate School Choir and General Music, and Kyle Culberston, Intermediate School Band.

Elementary students are led by Robert Trosan, Joseph Chesnas, and Connor Reese, all of whom teach Elementary Choir and General Music.

Thank you to all of the music teachers who allowed me to attend the final rehearsal on the morning of the concert. I very much enjoyed the musical numbers that I got to hear and found it hard to resist the urge to sing along. Best wishes to everyone involved for a successful concert where you all get to show off the hard work that went into the annual concert.

The 42nd Annual Borough Music Festival (Choir year) will be held on Wednesday night at 6:30pm in the NHS Davis Auditorium.
