• Police Seek ID Of Person Suspected Of Scamming Over $3,000 From Walmart: Naugatuck PD (patch.com) — Naugatuck police are asking residents to help identify a person who allegedly used a reloadable card to scam more than $3,000 from the local Walmart. Investigators say the suspect left in a black Hyundai Sonata and have shared video of the individual and vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact Naugatuck police or use the department’s anonymous tip line.
• Bank fraud charge could land Connecticut woman behind bars for 30 years (fox61.com) — A 23-year-old Naugatuck woman has pleaded guilty in Bridgeport federal court to bank fraud tied to a scheme involving fraudulent checks deposited into Bank of America accounts. Prosecutors say she and others used recruited “runners” and altered checks, some stolen from the mail, and she now faces a potential decades-long prison sentence while free on bond awaiting sentencing.
• Hurricane season is just days away in CT. Here's what to expect this year. (courant.com) — Connecticut officials are urging residents, including those in and around the Naugatuck Valley, to prepare now for hurricane season with family plans, emergency kits, and flood insurance. They point to the deadly 2024 Naugatuck Valley flooding as a warning that even non‑coastal, non–flood plain homes can face serious storm damage, despite forecasts for a below‑normal Atlantic season.
