NAUGATUCK, CT — A hawk that was injured after it flew into a building in Naugatuck last month was released back into the wild Friday, according to police.
Police previously said several concerned community members reported on Sept. 5 a hawk had flown into a Church Street building and fallen onto the sidewalk in a daze.
In a Facebook post over the weekend, police said after the collision left the hawk dazed on the sidewalk, caring community members kept the animal safe until police and animal control officers arrived in the area.
Th hawk was then taken to a wildlife rehabilitator by the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection's Environmental Conservation Police, according to police.
"Thanks to the care provided by Christine's Critters wildlife rehabilitation center, and the help of DEEP and Officer Dota, this hawk got a second chance to spread his wings," police wrote on Facebook. "Thank you to everyone who played a part in getting him safely back where he belongs!"
