Naugatuck Animal Control has received a number of reports of a Canadian goose in town with something tied around its leg.
NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Animal Control is aware of a goose in town with something tied around its leg, however the department stressed the animal is alright.
According to the department's Facebook page, animal control officers have received and responded to a number of calls about a Canadian goose in town with something tied around its leg.
The animal was recently spotted at Baummer Pond in Naugatuck.

"We have been aware and watched this bird for the past two years where she continues to thrive, proving she can fly and eat while only using one leg," animal control officials said on Facebook.
Officials also noted the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and local rehabbers have been contacted many times about the goose and are aware of the situation.

According to the department, animal control officers are unable to safely catch the goose due to "her being able to fly and fight," as well as not having the necessary equipment.
The department has also contacted local fire departments in case officers need to use a boat in the near future, officials said.
"Thank you for all your calls and concerns," officials said. "Please know we are aware and try our best to do what we can."
