Assault, Unlawful Restraint Charges for Naugatuck Man in Domestic Violence Case: Cops
The incident occurred Thursday night.

NAUGATUCK, CT - A 28-year-old Naugatuck man was arrested on second-degree assault and unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct charges Thursday following an alleged domestic violence incident, according to police.
Joseph Downey was arrested at about 2:50 a.m. following a "report of a domestic disturbance that originated in Naugatuck" between a Downey and his wife.
"During an argument [Downey] held the victim down. [He] caused several lacerations to the victim's arms, with what is believed to be a pocket knife," police stated. "The weapon was not found during the investigation."

Additional details of the incident were not disclosed. Downey was held in lieu of a $25,000.00 surety bond, and was scheduled to appear in court later on Thursday. The status of his case is unknown.
