Hockey Benefit Game to Aid Jim Jordan of Naugatuck
Jordan, who serves on the Naugatuck Board of Education, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

WATERTOWN, CT, January 29, 2015 – On Saturday February 7th, the Watertown Police and Fire Hockey Team will faceoff against the Watertown Youth Hockey Coaches in a benefit game to be held at The Taft School’s Odden Hockey Arena in Watertown.
Festivities begin at 7:00 PM; tickets will be available at the door. Admission will be ten dollars per person and all proceeds will benefit the Jordan family.
Jim Jordan was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Residents of Naugatuck, where Jim serves on the Board of Education and his wife Colleen is a teacher, the family has long been active in the borough and in Watertown Youth Hockey. “Watertown Youth Hockey has been a very important part of our lives the past six years,” said Colleen Jordan, “They are our hockey family and we’re overwhelmed by their support, and that of the people in Watertown, Oakville, and Naugatuck.”

“Our youth hockey program is very close-knit, and the Jordans have been part of it for a long time.” said Watertown Youth Hockey Association President Larry Erickson. “We want to do whatever we can to help Jim and his family right now.”
“The brotherhood that exists amongst firefighters and police officers can also be found in the hockey community,” added Watertown Fire Lieutenant and team co-captain Brian White. “We know so many of the youth hockey parents and coaches just from being at the rink and we want to do our part to help.”

In addition to the game itself, the night will feature other entertainment. The Watertown Police and Fire Departments will furnish a color guard for the presentation of colors. The Police Pipes and Drums of Waterbury will be on hand to perform. Watertown Youth Hockey’s Learn to Play program will scrimmage during the first intermission, and the second intermission will feature a chuck-a-duck game. Ice dancers from the Watertown Skating Club will perform during both intermissions. There will be giveaways and raffle prizes; concessions, commemorative t-shirts, and other souvenirs will be available for purchase.
“The people of Watertown and Oakville have been so generous in our past fundraising efforts.” said firefighter and team co-captain Spencer Bronson. “We’re extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from residents and businesses alike. We’ve helped families of firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, we’ve supported a state charity, and we’ve helped our own local firefighers and police officers at their times of need. This year we need to offer our support to one of neighbors from Naugatuck and a member of our local hockey community. It’s great to know we can count on the generous support of the town.”
“We usually say our games are ‘bad hockey for a good cause’,” said Fire Captain and youth hockey parent Jerry Leach. “With the Youth Hockey coaches having an Olympic gold medalist and an NCAA champion on their side, I’m not so sure it’ll be bad hockey this year, but it’s definitely a good cause. Anyone who comes out on February 7th is sure to have a good night”.
Donations can be made at the Watertown Fire Department at 935 Main Street, Jesse Camille’s Restaurant at 615 North Church Street in Naugatuck, or at Tavern 1757 at 318 Roosevelt Drive in Seymour. Checks can be made payable to Watertown Youth Hockey, listing “Jordan Family” in the memo.
