Community members may stop by to help them collect donations, non-perishable food items and turkeys.
Throughout the year, Connecticut Food Bank’s most needed items include: Grains, Cereal, Fruits, Vegetables, Sauces & Salsa, Dairy, Snacks and Other Foods, Meats, Beans & Proteins

The mission of the Connecticut Food Bank is to provide nutritious food to people in need. They do this by supplying food products and resources to their member agencies, as well as through direct food distribution programs and by promoting public awareness about the problem of hunger.
Founded in 1982, Connecticut Food Bank is an affiliate of Feeding America – the nation’s food bank network. It is the largest centralized source of donated emergency food in Connecticut. Through distribution centers in Wallingford and Bridgeport, and an affiliated distribution site in New London, they provide food products to a network of community based food assistance programs including soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries, and daycare programs in Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, and Windham counties.

By soliciting the food industry for products that will not sell – items that are wholesome but might have some cosmetic flaw – Connecticut Food Bank reduces waste and feeds people.

Ways You Can Help
Make a Donation
More than 406,000 Connecticut residents are hungry; more than 115,000 of the state's children are food insecure. For a little more than $10, we can supply enough food to feed a person for a week. Your contribution in any amount will change lives.
Volunteer With Us
The Connecticut Food Bank welcomes individual and group volunteers every weekday. We look for office assistance, food sorters and packers, as well as mobile pantry or event volunteers. We can also accommodate corporate group volunteering.
Matching Gift Program
Double your donation with matching gifts. Many companies offer matching gift programs that encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.
Hunger 101
Hunger 101 is a Connecticut Food Bank interactive group workshop that give the more fortunate among us a taste of what food insecurity really is. Participants learn firsthand what it is like to struggle with poverty and food insecurity in CT. We can deliver the program to your site or at one of our facilities. The experience can be adapted for a 45 to 90 minute delivery and for any size group.
Online Donation Drive
Unlike traditional food drives, the funds we received from Online Donation Drives helps us feed hungry people in CT without collection and transporting food back to our facilities. Participating in an Online Donation Drive puts your donation to work quickly, helping provide nutritious food to people in need. A dollar given through an Online Donation Drive buys as much as if you had spent $4 at your local grocery store.
Planned Giving
Planned giving creates tax benefits for donors while supporting the Connecticut Food Bank's hunger relief mission. You may wish to make a gift through your will or trust, retirement account, or use different types of assets to create at gift which pays you income.
Become an Advocate
Our advocates on the issue of hunger are vital in helping steer legislation action around hunger relief. Be informed about the issues of hunger in our communities and help share our message with your representatives.
