Could Digital Signage Attract More Businesses To Naugatuck?
Zoning officials are discussing the issue and whether there should be changes to the current regulations.

NAUGATUCK, CT — During a recent Zoning Commission meeting, Zoning Enforcement Officer Ed Carter raised the topic of digital signage in the Borough.
According to meeting minutes, "He noted the current regulations do not allow signs to change. He feels that the commission should look into changing the regulations in the future. There was a discussion on how fast a sign can change.
Wayne Malicki agreed there needs to be a change and feels they should not be allowed to blink. Caroline agreed as well and feels it needs to be a consideration and could bring businesses to the town. A discussion ensued. The purpose of the current sign regulations was to make signage business friendly and not distract drivers.

There needs to be a balance of public safety and business friendly. Ned Fitzpatrick felt it was smart to bring in a professional sign company to answer questions and to bring in samples of existing signs showing the seconds delay and the difference between 10, 20, and 30 seconds. Ed Carter noted that Big Y will be updating their signs, nothing digital."
