'Extremely Loving' Puppy Found Dumped By Pond In Naugatuck

NAUGATUCK, CT — A resident found an "extremely loving" eight-month-old dog off Great Hill Road in Naugatuck by Schildgen Pond on June 3, according to Naugatuck Animal Control.

Suffering from heat stroke and "other medical concerns," the dog was rushed to Central Veterinary Hospital with assistance from Prospect Animal Control and was placed in the ICU, animal control officers said.

He has since made a recovery and has been placed with Naugatuck Animal Control, which is seeking justice for the "well-behaved, gentle and eager to please" puppy.

"Along with surviving severe heat stroke, he presents obvious signs of neglect ... From being underweight and poor body condition to severe skin infections, and an older, untreated injury to the left side of his neck that has caused a severe infection that also affects his left eye," officers wrote.

The dog is not currently available for adoption as officials, with the help of Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates, are "begging" anyone with information on the dog to come forward.

"Desmond's Army has graciously offered a $5,000 reward for the information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the conditions and abandonment of this young boy," officers wrote.

"He deserves justice! Please help us, help him," they added.
