Facebook Group Honors the Women of Naugatuck

"This amazing group that has brought so much joy to so many." - Founder Tina Dambowsky

Naugatuck, CT - A Facebook group has been started by Tina Dambowsky that honors the women of Naugatuck. Gifts of Happiness for the Women of Naugatuck started with a small group of women that has grown into a big, thoughtful idea.

People have been delivering gifts to women all over town "just because."

Naugatuck resident Shannon Denihan received a surprise on Monday (pictured below) and planned to drop one off on Tuesday.

Ms. Denihan wrote "the fact that she started it out of the goodness of her heart and won’t take anything in return says so much."

Ms. Dambowsky was born and raised in Naugatuck and although she no longer lives in the borough, she writes that "this town is where my heart is." On Tuesday, Ms. Dambowsky posted that she started the group on May 12. "In just seven days, we have 237 ladies on the list to be gifted and total of 195 ladies have been gifted."

Within that one week, there are 42 ladies to be gifted. "[B]ut that number can change if more members decide to add their name to the list to be gifted and I hope more do add their name. To say I am happy is an understatement. This brings me so much joy to see all the gifts being given."

"Although I would love more members, we are at a manageable amount and not accepting any more members; once everyone has been gifted in the group I have a plan for what I want the group to be," added the private group's founder.

This morning, Ms. Dambowsky, who works as a personal care assistant and is the mother of "an amazing young man," told me that one of the members made shirts and are selling them to the members of the group. Funds raised will go to help Jane Doe No More, a charity close to the heart of the group's founder. This member is bringing one of the shirts to Ms. Dambowsky today. (See photo above.) Another member of the group made car decals and are gifting the ladies of the group.
