GoFundMe Launched To Help 19 Displaced By Fire In Naugatuck

A nonprofit organization has launched a GoFundMe campaign to collecting donations for 19 Naugatuck residents displaced by a fire this week.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A nonprofit organization has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for 19 Naugatuck residents displaced by a fire Wednesday morning.

The campaign, organized by Naugatuck Pop Warner, is collecting donations for adults and children who were "displaced and lost everything in a fire that destroyed their homes" Wednesday, the campaign description reads.

In a news release, Naugatuck fire officials said 19 people were displaced by the blaze, which broke out at a building on Lantern Park Drive around 9 a.m.

Firefighters found heavy fire coming from the building and quickly extinguished the blaze, however the structure sustained heavy damage, according to fire officials.

One firefighter was injured during the incident and was treated at a nearby hospital. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said.

All donations to the GoFundMe will go directly to those impacted by the fire, according to the campaign description.

"Let's stand up and show how our community bands together to support each other during unimaginable times," the description reads.

The page has raised over $4,500 toward a $10,000 goal thanks to over 50 donations as of Thursday afternoon.

A collection of items for the families is scheduled to take place Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the back lot of Hop Brook Elementary School, according to the page. Clothing, non-perishable food items, blankets, toys and personal hygiene items are encouraged.
