At Simply Smiles, we have made significant decisions in the last few days to adapt to the reality of the coronavirus on the global community:
- Our in-person Keep Hope Alive fundraising events in Connecticut have been canceled and switched to an online fundraiser.
- Our volunteer service trips have been canceled through August.
- Our U.S. staff is currently working remotely, and we have limited staff travel.

Status: Reservation • South Dakota
The Chairman of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation sent Simply Smiles a notice that all visiting individuals and groups are prohibited from entering the Reservation until further notice. Schools on the Reservation are currently closed. However, our partners at the Tiospaye Topa School are providing homework and study packets for students and providing breakfast and lunch pick-up services for students in La Plant and surrounding towns. Further, children and families on the Reservation are asked to stay at home and limit travel. We are continuing Simply Smiles programming where possible and working closely with our partners on the Reservation to understand and determine the best ways that we can use our resources to help. Stay tuned for more details and needs.
Status: Home for Children • Mexico
First and foremost: The children in our care at the Simply Smiles Home for Children are safe. Schools are closing. With school cancellations and the reality of the coronavirus at large, Gaby and our staff are taking extra health and safety precautions, including judicious sanitation and cleaning of the entire facility, and closely monitoring the health of the staff and children. Stay tuned for more details and needs.
With the cancellation of our in-person Keep Hope Alive fundraisers, we need our Simply Smiles community more than ever.
Hundreds of children living at our program locations in Mexico and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in South Dakota rely on us for their basic needs–and for their pursuit of the bright futures they deserve.
