Here Is Naugatuck's Plan To Help Beautify Rubber Avenue Area
Borough officials are planning a major change to the area.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for 6 p.m. on June 19 on a proposal by the Borough to relocate the Naugatuck Recycling Center from Rubber Avenue to the end of School Street Extension.
The Naugatuck Recycling Center would be located at 0 School Street Ext. Wayne Zirolli, Borough Engineer spoke about the Borough wanting to move the recycling center off Rubber Avenue to beautify the Rubber Avenue area and to free up that location for commercial development, according to meeting minutes.
The proposal is to site the new location for the recycling center to the end of School Street Extension. This property is currently the Borough of Naugatuck’s property. Mr. Zirolli went into detail on how the town vehicles would access the location off a separate route through the back of
the property and how they would need to widen School Street Ext.

A detailed discussion took place on traffic flow, recycling containers setup, how it would be
able to handle 16 vehicles at once when currently only 4 vehicles can be at the containers at once.
There are not many other locations in the Borough that can handle this type of facility. The Borough is looking to affect as few of the residents as possible and will improve the roadway.
