Iconic Naugatuck Neighborhood Grocery Store Closes After 38 Years
Customers say they felt like they were visiting family when they shopped at the store and were greeted by the owners.

NAUGATUCK, CT — After nearly four decades of being in business Cindy Herb, 68, and Carl “Herbie” Herb, 72, closed Cindy’s Grocery located at 18 May St. this week, the Republican-American reports.
Customers came into the store to wish the couple well in retirement and share stories. Patrons said what made Cindy's Grocery different is that it felt like visiting a family as the couple always had lots of time for their customers.
The couple told the Rep-Am that they felt now was the right time to retire and that they have no plans to travel. They just want to enjoy their home, watch their grandchildren play sports, and have time to attend church together.
