Life at the Simply Smiles Home for Children

An important update from the Simply Smiles Home for Children in Oaxaca, Mexico!

To the Simply Smiles community:

So many of you have reached out to me, asking how the children and staff are doing here at the Simply Smiles Home for Children. To hear from you during these uncertain times means more than I could ever express. Thank you!

As is true everywhere, the situation is rapidly unfolding and we are adapting. But, life continues at the Simply Smiles Home for Children. We are trying to maintain a level of normalcy for the 17 children in our care while keeping everyone safe.

And, something that remains a constant: As the Director of the Simply Smiles Home for Children, I am always aware that young lives depend on me, and, by extension, the Simply Smiles community. But, honestly, I feel this weight now more than ever.

Since many of you have asked me, here are two ways that you can help us through these challenging times right now:

• Donate to our online Keep Hope Alive fundraiser: I was looking forward to seeing many of you at our fundraisers in April–and to raising our annual operating budget at the events. But, with the fundraisers canceled, we need our community to come together to ensure that life continues at the Simply Smiles Home for Children.

• Start an online fundraiser for the Children's Home! Especially for those of you who have recently volunteered here in Mexico (or were planning to volunteer with us), this is a great opportunity to support and protect the children while sharing your volunteer experience with your friends and family.

I ask that you please consider making a contribution of whatever amount you are able, allowing us to adapt and respond to the COVID-19 crisis.

Your show of support gives the staff and me the ability and confidence to make sure that the kids are in the safest, most secure, loving, and supportive environment during these uncertain and scary times.
