New Haven, Conn. — Long Wharf Theatre is proud to announce the workshop production of LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha, running April 17–26, 2026, at Space Ballroom in Hamden, Connecticut. Created and performed by Barsha and Jo Lampert, developed with and directed by Sivan Battat, and with dramaturgical support from Madeleine George, LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha is a vibrant, music-filled celebration of queer resilience, community, and chosen family.
“LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha embodies the kind of artist-driven,
community-rooted work that defines Long Wharf’s future,” said Jacob G. Padrón, Artistic Director of Long Wharf Theatre. “Lampert and Barsha have created a piece that celebrates queer joy and resilience — one that honors the history of queer spaces while imagining what becomes possible when we gather to share stories and community.”
As part of Long Wharf Theatre’s 2025–2026 season, We’re Still Here, the workshop production embodies the company’s ongoing commitment to stories of endurance, transformation, and collective imagination. A workshop production provides audiences with an intimate opportunity to engage with a work in progress, inviting collaboration and feedback that inform its final form. Through live performance, artists test and refine the piece, discovering how it resonates in real time. LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha began its journey in Long Wharf Theatre’s LAB Series in May 2021 (under a different title), where Lampert and Barsha first shared an early virtual version of their work. The LAB Series — Long Wharf Theatre’s incubator for bold, artist-driven storytelling — provides space for artists to experiment, build community, and develop work that
speaks to the world we live in. Long Wharf Theatre continued to champion the piece in the years that followed, introducing director Sivan Battat and producing developmental workshops in Fall 2022 and Summer 2024, each phase deepening the work’s musical language and theatrical form.
“We knew right away there was something really special in this piece,” said Kate Moore Heaney, Director of Producing and New Work at Long Wharf Theatre. “ Barsha, Jo, and Sivan bring such warmth and vitality to their collaboration — the show is funny, generous, and deeply human. Watching LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha grow from an idea in our LAB Series to a workshop production has been a joy, and it’s exactly the kind of artistic partnership we believe in.”
That commitment runs through Long Wharf Theatre’s six-decade legacy of developing and producing new work. Since its founding in 1965, Long Wharf Theatre has premiered more than 100 plays and musicals, helping to launch the careers of many of the nation’s most celebrated playwrights, directors, and actors. LAST CALL with Lampert & Barsha carries this legacy onward — a testament to Long Wharf Theatre’s belief that bold, original storytelling has the power to connect communities and spark dialogue across generations.
The performances will take place at Space Ballroom in Hamden, a music venue known for its intimate, electric atmosphere — the perfect setting for a show that bridges live concert and theatre. The venue reflects Long Wharf Theatre’s ongoing commitment to bringing theatre directly into neighborhoods and unexpected spaces across Greater New Haven.
