Man Accused of Punching a Woman in Naugatuck

Naugatuck police say the woman sustained injuries to her face during the alleged assault.

Naugatuck police say a domestic disturbance quickly escalated into a serious incident.

Police say at 11:50 p.m. on July 2, police responded to 22 Barnum Court for a domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

During an argument, Thomas Woods, 39, of Chattanooga is accused of punching the victim causing swelling to her right eye, police said.

He is also accused of putting his hands around the victim’s neck, police said.

Woods was held on a $25,000 bond and is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree strangulation, and disorderly conduct.
