Man Accused Of Threatening Employees Inside Walmart: Naugatuck PD

The man was reportedly upset about the store's COVID-19 protocols, police said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck man, Randy Engelhardt, 51, of Adella Street, is accused of verbally threatening employees and customers inside Walmart this past weekend, police said.

At 4:19 p.m. on Saturday police were called to the 1100 New Haven Road retailer on a report of a customer harassing and threatening the employees, police said.

"The accused was witnessed saying the following comment, "I swear I am going to get a gun and start just shooting (expletive) away," according to a police report. "The accused made this comment in front of employees and other patrons at the store, which caused alarm. The accused also refused to leave when asked to. The accused was upset with having to wait in line due to Covid-19 protocols at the store."

He is charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening. He was released on a $20,000 bond.
