NAUGATUCK, CT — A New York man was charged with breach of peace and resisting arrest after refusing to leave a Naugatuck banquet hall earlier this month, according to police.

In a news release, police said they were called to the Crystal Room, located on School Street, around 10 p.m. on June 1 after receiving a report of a person refusing to leave.

When they arrived, officers encountered a 48-year-old New York man with a facial injury who refused medical treatment, police said.

After further investigation, officers learned Crystal Room staff had asked the man to leave "due to his behavior and level of intoxication," police said.

Officers initially tried to help the man find a ride home, however he became irate and was uncooperative with officers who tried to place him under arrest, according to police.

The man was held on $5,000 bond and arraigned in court days later, according to police.
