Man Fired Gun Inside Bar: Naugatuck Police

Police say the accused fired a shot inside the bar after being involved in an argument with the victim.

NAUGATUCK, CT — An Ansonia man is accused of firing a gunshot from inside a bar in Naugatuck, police said. Fortunately, the bullet didn't hit anyone.

At 2:06 a.m. July 8 officers were standing on Church Street when they heard a gunshot from the area of Sullivan’s Bar. The victim exited the bar and told officers that the accused, Willie L. Days, 68, of Howard Avenue, fired a shot at him, police said.

The victim was engaged in an argument with the accused, while they were in the bar, police said. The victim stated he was in the doorway of the bar, when Days fired one shot at him, police said. The victim was not injured and the bullet struck a door, police said.

Days was arrested on scene and the firearm was recovered and seized as evidence, police said. He is charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree threatening, criminal possession of a pistol, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, and carrying a pistol without a permit.

The accused was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
