Mayor Hess Calls Borough Citizens With COVID-19 Update

Naugatuck, CT - Mayor Pete Hess called Naugatuck citizens on Thursday evening with an update on Covid 19 issues and the latest efforts the borough is making to ensure that Naugatuck remains safe and informed.

First, as a result of proactive measures the town's unified command has been taking since last week, we are now ready for a variety of scenarios that the town may encounter as a result of the spread of the virus. The borough has already laid the groundwork to ensure a continuity of governmental services as we move forward. The borough will remain open for business.

Emergency services have taken preemptive steps to ensure that they will continue to operate without disruption.

I would like to emphasize at this time that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus in Naugatuck or in the Naugatuck Valley at this time.

In an abundance of caution, Naugatuck will be closing all schools until March 27, 2020. We all need to do whatever it takes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The town emergency management system through the unified command has been meeting daily and will continue to meet several times a day to ensure that our community remains safe and has the most accurate information. Community members should monitor the town website at naugatuck-ct.gov as updates will be provided as they become available.

Patch Mayor's note: At last week's meeting Police Chief Steven Hunt noted that if residents call 911, they should expect more questions than normal that is an effort to screen for protocols for first responders.
