Naugatuck Elementary Schools Mark 100th Day in School

Students and teachers celebrated 100 days of learning on Friday as the district marked a milestone of the school year.

Naugatuck, CT - Maple Hill School was one of the elementary schools in the Naugatuck school district that celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday. Many teachers and students at the elementary level keep track of the number of days in school as an ongoing math activity. This year's milestone came relatively early in the school year due to the fact that there has been only one snow day (on January 22) this year.

Students in primary grades take part in various hundred-themed activities on the 100th day. Many are designed to reinforce the concept of the quantity of 100; some teachers have students bring in a collection of 100 small items that they have counted. Maple Hill invited students to dress up as a 100 year old person.

Pictured in the first photo above is Nathan Farina, age 7, dressed as a 100 year old gentleman. The photo was shared with Naugatuck Patch by his mom Tricia Farina.

Students and teachers at Andrew Avenue were also invited in the Friday email issued by the office to dress like they were 100 years old.
