Naugatuck Police Provide Update On Christopher Ferry's Death

Naugatuck police confirmed that the man who was found lying unresponsive in a brook on Sunday was a 25-year-old borough resident.

Naugatuck police on Tuesday morning confirmed that the man who was found lying unresponsive in a brook located behind the area of 300 Rubber Avenue on Sunday afternoon is Christopher Ferry, 25, of 47 Galpin Street in Naugatuck.

Ferry would later be pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata said “Officers attempted to resuscitate the victim on scene and he was transported by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury where he was pronounced deceased.”

“The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Naugatuck PD Detective Division. No further details regarding the investigation are available at this time,” Cammarata said.

On Monday, a GoFundMe campaign was set up to help Ferry’s family with funeral expenses. On the GoFundMe page it states that Ferry’s death was a homicide, but it has since been edited to say it’s being investigated as a possible homicide.

Cammarata made it clear in his media release Tuesday morning that police are still investigating the cause of death and no determinations have been made.

A total of $1,280 has been raised to date.

According to the information on the GoFundMe account, Christopher Ferry was a new father of a 3-week old baby boy named after him.

Chris leaves behind his newborn baby son Christopher, his fiance Ashley, his mother Wendy, his father Mark, two sisters Kandy & Krystal, as well as 5 nieces, 1 nephew, and many other relatives and friends.

According to the GoFundMe, the family has no financial means for his funeral expenses. His infant son will never know his daddy. In addition to funds for funeral expenses, we are also appealing to the generous hearts out there to help support baby Christopher.

All funds raised will go first to pay for Chris’s funeral and cremation expenses, and any additional funds will help with the immediate needs and care of baby Christopher.
